How you can help

As the only 100% nonprofit animal shelter in the greater Sacramento region and with more than 6,000 stray or surrendered animals entering our shelter every year, the Sacramento SPCA relies on individual donations like yours to help us give them a second chance.

Thanks to you, we can give animals the care they need. The following links below are some of the many ways you can help the animals at the Sacramento SPCA today. Thank you for your support!

Hercules was surrendered to us by his heartbroken family who couldn’t afford his veterinary care. He suffered a back injury that compressed the discs in his vertebrae causing his back legs to be paralyzed. With nowhere to turn, his family decided that giving up Hercules was better than putting him down. They pleaded with us to save his life and find him a good home. Today, Hercules is recovering and learning to walk again. His positive and happy attitude are contagious to anyone who meets him.

Volunteer Program

Be a part of our award-winning volunteer program!

Why was the Sacramento SPCA voted “Best Place to Volunteer” by readers of Sacramento Magazine? Because we take your commitment seriously.

We provide training that prepares you to improve the lives of homeless animals, as well as administer the programs that help us provide the care and placement they deserve. At the Sacramento SPCA our volunteers are the heart of what we do.
