Doggy Dash #Releashed!

The Sacramento SPCA’s 27th Annual Doggy Dash looked and felt a little different this year – it was more than just another walk in the park. With restrictions placed on large group events due to the COVID-19 health crisis, the Sacramento SPCA shifted its largest community event and fundraiser of the year from a gathering at Sacramento’s iconic William Land Park to a virtual experience.

Pet enthusiasts living far and wide joined the Sacramento SPCA on June 27th from their neighborhoods, parks and trails for the virtual 2k/5k walk and pet festival from a live broadcast on the Sacramento SPCA’s Facebook page.

We are overwhelmed by the community’s participation and support to help save more lives. Participants posted photos and videos online of themselves strutting with furry friends in neighborhoods locally and as far as Alaska!

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, team and individual fundraisers, donors, festival vendors and registrants, we raised more than $135,000 to provide direct care for the animals! As an added surprise, we saw many new faces participating this year: cats and dogs that are not normally comfortable attending events with other dogs or large crowds of people were also in attendance.

If you missed the event, you can watch the live broadcast below – and don’t forget to check out our photo wall here to see Doggy Dash #Releashed photos and videos.
