Classroom Visits
To ensure the health and well-being of the animals in our
care and the community we serve, the Sacramento SPCA is
closely monitoring group event recommendations in response to
COVID-19.
With those recommendations in mind, we have decided to cancel all
in-classroom visits. Please contact us for virtual
opportunities available at education@sspca.org
Classroom presentations and virtual field trips are available
Thursdays and Fridays.
We offer presentations for classrooms and after school programs for students Pre-K through 12th grade. For our youngest students (Pre-K/Kindergarten), we offer an interactive presentation around the topic of dog safety, bite prevention, and how to take care of pets.
For grades 1-5, we offer a series of 3-5 classroom visits based around the Red Rover Readers Curriculum. Using a literature-based approach, these visits engage students in discussions designed to facilitate empathy development. For older students we offer presentations on a range of topics including pet overpopulation, responsible pet ownership, and careers with animals. These presentations are customized to meet the needs and interests of your group.
Presentations are available Thursday and Friday and run approximately 45 minutes. To schedule a presentation, contact our Education and Outreach Coordinator at education@sspca.org.
