Where do you live?
Sacramento
Tell us a little about your day, what do you do, what
have you done?
I am semi-retired …. I am currently consulting with public
agencies regarding legal issues. In my spare time, I walk dogs at
the Bradshaw Animal Shelter, take piano lessons, write about
baseball history, enjoy the outdoors (walk/run/hike), travel,
music, and movies.
During my legal career, I had a assortment of jobs including be the Executive Director of the Fair Political Practices Commission, the Executive Officer of the Governor’s Office of Criminal Justice Planning, the Acting Commissioner of the Department of Corporations, Chief Counsel at the California State Auditor’s Office, and the General Counsel for the Long Beach Unified School District.

organizations or associations?
I am a Vice Chair for the Baseball Cards Committee of the Society
for American Baseball Research (“SABR”)
Any past affiliations you would like to
share?
I was a Board member of the Friends of Long Beach Animals from
2022-2024; I was a Board member of the I-Can Foundation from
2016-2018.
What unique talents and skills do you bring to the
Sacramento SPCA Board?
I have over 30 years of professional experience working with
Boards and Committees. As an executive of public agencies for
over 20 years, I have knowledge of best practices for
organizations, experience with auditing, personnel, and
budgets.
Finally, what excites you about being part of the
Sacramento SPCA Board of Directors?
I have been an advocate for animals since I prosecuted an animal
cruelty case 30 years ago when I was a deputy district attorney
in Sacramento County. I get a high level of
satisfaction helping pets in need and people in need who have
pets. I hope my contributions to the Board can improve the SPCA
in all facets.
