David Bowen

        Board Treasurer

        About David
How long have you been with the Sacramento SPCA
  Board?
I joined the board in May 2024.
  Where do you live?
  Granite Bay
Tell us a little about your day, what do you do, what
  have you done?
I retired in 2010 after 32 years in accounting and management
consulting, the last 15 years as a principal in Deloitte’s
Sacramento office. I had the opportunity to work in a number of
interesting and different areas, including technology planning,
systems integration, financial management systems, process
engineering and change management. Most of my work was serving
state and local governments, and nonprofits across the country.
Are you currently participating in any other
  organizations or associations?
I am a currently serving board member of the local United Way.
Any past affiliations you would like to
  share?
I have also held board positions with nonprofits Seniors First in
Auburn and Community Link in Sacramento.
What unique talents and skills do you bring to the
  Sacramento SPCA Board?
I have a lot of experience in nonprofit accounting, governance,
project management, finance and investment management. I hope to
bring these skills to the board and help the SSPCA grow the
resources available to support our mission.
We would love to hear about your family, starting with
  your pets…
We currently have just one dog, Ollie. He’s a five year old
cockapoo/shih tzu mix with nearly unlimited energy. My wife Grace
is a retired attorney who also spends time working with
nonprofits. We have two adult daughters who we are very fortunate
to have living nearby to us in Folsom.
Finally, what excites you about being part of the
  Sacramento SPCA Board of Directors?
I am really excited to be a part of an organization that provides
such a wealth of vital and life-changing services for so many
animals. I am impressed every single day at how passionate and
dedicated our entire team is. It’s a great pleasure to be a part
of it. The Sacramento SPCA truly is making a difference!
