Dog Training Classes

The Sacramento SPCA Training Team offers a wide variety of Dog Training Classes, from Beginner to Intermediate, and from Puppies to Pit Bulls.

General information

Basic training

Beneficial for dogs of all ages. You’ll learn effective ways to get your dog to do what you ask while building a trusting and respectful relationship.

You’ll also learn how to give your dog the mental and physical exercise he needs, teach your dog not to jump on you, pay attention when asked, teach him how to sit, lay down, stay, come, walk on leash politely, wait at doors, and shake.

For puppies 10-16 weeks of age (as of the class start date). Here you’ll learn all of the important puppy basics that will set a foundation for a lifelong positive relationship with your new dog.

Your puppy will have supervised play time with other puppies to learn appropriate play skills, will be handled by other people to become better socialized, and s/he will learn all the basics (i.e., sit, down, come, wait at the door, and walk politely on leash).
