She came to the SPCA as a stray, with a gray muzzle, filthy, matted fur, and large, visible tumors.
We fell instantly in love and we named her Trina.
Trina’s hearing was fading and her hips were somewhat arthritic. We guessed that she was about 12 years old.
Shortly after her arrival at the SPCA, Trina had the three tumors removed (one weighing 2.5 lbs.), she had a complete dental and a tooth extraction, her mite-filled ears were cleaned and medicated, she was treated to rid her of the worms that filled her belly, and then she had a good bath and had her matted fur shaved.
All the while, Trina’s tail wagged and she seemed to smile as SPCA staff and volunteers worked away. After her medical treatment, Trina went to a foster home where she was able to relax, heal and wait for a permanent home.
As part of our effort to find Trina the perfect place to spend her golden years, she was taken on TV – “Good Day Sacramento” – as the SPCA’s Pet of the Week. And that was all it took. A couple watching the show saw Trina’s sweet face and knew that she just HAD to join their family. Today, Trina is leading the good life and we couldn’t be happier!
A word from Trina’s new “mom.”
“She was so cute the other day. I had nine ladies come over to watch a movie. She came up to each lady to greet them. She loves all the attention. Every bone in her body is so gentle. She really loves my husband. She wakes him up every morning by gently putting her head on his side of the bed. Sweet. We love her so much. She even has her own Facebook page”
