Puppies, very small dogs, and kittens are often not posted on this web site because they are adopted very quickly. New animals arrive at our shelter daily.  The following pages do not contain profiles on all of our adoptable animals.  Please visit us in person to see all animals currently available for adoption.

Animals cannot be adopted over this website and we cannot hold animals via e-mail or telephone.  If you are interested in adopting an animal on our site you must physically visit the Sacramento SPCA shelter.  Hours and location are available by clicking this link.  Shelter animals are available on a first come, first served basis only.  We reserve the right to refuse any adoption to ensure the best matches for our animals.

Free Adoptions for Senior Citizens

Studies show that those who have pets are happier, healthier and live longer.  That's why we provide free adoptions to those age 60 and older who adopt animals age five and older.  We also offer senior discounts when adopting an animal under age five.  Our adoption counselors can help find a pet that would best fit in your household.  If you are interested in adopting a pet for someone you know, we do require that person come to the shelter to visit with the animal.  Adopting a pet is a very personal decision and not every animal is right for every person.  Click here to read about our adoptions procedures.
