Salary Range:  $15.94 to $21.00 per hour

General Summary:

The Sacramento SPCA is searching for a highly organized, results-driven professional to play a key role on our dynamic and growing Development team. The Development Coordinator will work collaboratively with team members to inspire fundraising support including, but not limited to, prospect identification, donor stewardship, and recognition.  

 

Essential Job Functions:

Research prospective funding opportunities for the organization, including potential corporate and foundation partners, as well as individuals; build and continuously refresh prospect lists.

Coordinate and oversee administrative volunteer projects, including mailings, database assistance, and other clerical support.

Create and generate timely and thoughtful acknowledgment letters for all donations.

Provide support and assistance for annual fundraising and cultivations events, as well as all donor recognition activities.

Update constituent records in Raisers Edge to maintain the integrity of the database.

Support donor relations through direct and indirect means (phone calls, email, mailings, etc.)

Responsible for safeguarding funds; handles cash, checks and other financial transactions.

Manages department related inventory including supplies, mailing and marketing materials.

 

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Highly organized with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn.

Must be a reliable self-starter, with excellent attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines with minimum supervision.

Strong knowledge of donor database systems such as Raiser’s Edge and experience with online fundraising platforms.

Excellent customer service skills, and comfortable with interacting with donors, volunteers, legal and financial professionals.

Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and listening.

Demonstrated computer proficiency including Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and Microsoft Word.

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and keep secure the private personal and financial information of our donors, volunteers, vendors and fellow staff members.

Have a valid California Drivers license and clear driving record for one year prior to employment in order to operate SSPCA vehicles.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or related field preferred, or combination of equivalent education and experience.

Two or more years of experience with fundraising or membership software, and customer relations.

 

Physical Requirements:

Any allergic condition that would be aggravated by exposure or through contact with animals or chemicals used to sanitize facilities, vehicles or equipment may be a disqualification.

Must sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop frequently to perform duties. Have the ability to perform some strenuous physical activity, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds alone for short distances.

Working Conditions:

Due to the importance of the interface with donors, members and department staff, regular departmental working hours and days are required.  Exceptions require Director approval.

Must be available and willing to work such weekends, holidays, overtime, and attend mandatory training and meetings as the employer determines necessary or desirable to meet its business needs

By nature of the industry, there may be occasional exposure to dead, injured, sick, unruly, vicious, and/or dangerous animals in addition to exposure to parasites and to infectious diseases.
