Get the Volunteer Spirit!

Sacramento Magazine's 2005, 2006 AND 2007 Choice for
  • Best Volunteer Group!
  • Your time is perhaps one of the most cherished gifts to the shelter. Volunteers play a critical role in most aspects of our shelter, ranging from clerical assistance to staffing events, to socializing animals in the shelter. We make every effort to match volunteers with the job they enjoy most, and provide plenty of training and guidance along the way.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. We do offer youth group activities and community service projects that can be done from home. Please note that these student community service opportunities do not include working directly with the animals due to the extensive training required. We do welcome you to continue once your project is completed and become a regular shelter volunteer.

If you don't want to work directly with the animals, we still need you! The shelter offers a variety of volunteer opportunities that are outside the scope of animal care.
