June 11, 2009
The Sacramento SPCA's 16th Annual Doggy Dash and Bark at the Park Festival drew record crowds (of the two- and four-legged varieties) and raised nearly $190,000 for the SPCA.
This year's Bark at the Park Festival featured live entertainment by The Indestructibles, and a new KidZone, in addition to the popular pup show, pug races disc dog and agility demonstrations, and canine contests.
Doggy Dash has become a Sacramento tradition, and was rated one of Sacramento's top three runs by Sacramento News & Review.
The Sacramento SPCA will care for more than 12,000 animals in 2009 and will perform more than 13,000 lifesaving spay/neuter surgeries in its high-volume spay/neuter clinic. Proceeds from the Doggy Dash and other SPCA fundraisers directly benefit the animals in our care.
We are grateful to everyone who attended and sponsored Doggy Dash 2009. Please stay tuned for information on our next major fundraiser - our Reigning Cats & Dogs Gala, scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at the Sacramento Community Center.
