CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CATS AVAILABLE AT $0 DOWN

(Sacramento, CA) -- They come in all certified pre-owned makes and models, they're made in California, they come with a multi-point inspection and, for a limited time, they're available at $0 down, 0% financing and no payments -- though donations are gladly accepted.

Believe it or not, we're talking about cats.

Through the Certified Pre-Owned Cat promotion, adoption fees on cats - age one-year and older - are being waived through September 30 for approved adopters at the Sacramento SPCA, City of Sacramento Animal Care Services and Sacramento County Animal Care & Regulation as part of an effort to find adoptive homes for hundreds of cats.

The promotion was designed to bring to light the hundreds of cats currently awaiting adoption in Sacramento animal shelters. Area shelters are inundated with cats, especially this time of year. Sacramento-area animal shelters cared for more than 20,000 homeless cats in 2008 -- a staggering number that looks to be on the rise for 2009.

"We're caring for more cats than ever before," said Rick Johnson, Sacramento SPCA Executive Director. "We're hoping this unique promotion will draw attention to the wonderful adult cats available through local shelters, while making people aware of all of the benefits that come with every animal adopted from any Sacramento animal shelter."
