Community Service Project 4: Thrift Store Items
Youth Community Service and Group Projects >> High School Service >> Project 4: Thrift Store Items
What is a thrift store item drive?
The thrift store item drive helps collect reusable items in good condition for our SSPCA Thrift Store at 1402 E Street in Sacramento.
How do reusable items help the animals?
Used items such as clothing, furniture, housewares, etc. help raise money that directly support the care and feeding of unwanted pets at the Sacramento SPCA. The Sacramento SPCA is funded strictly by donation.
Sounds like a great idea! How do we get started?
Create posters asking people to donate reusable items. The posters can be put up in your school, in community groups or clubs you may belong to, and throughout your neighborhood.
* You will need to decide how the reusable items will be collected and include that information on your posters.
Supplies you will need:
- Poster-sized paper
- Colorful pens and crayons
- Tape/thumbtacks
- Boxes to pack items
- A list of acceptable items
- A note book to record the names and addresses of the people donating items
What do we do with the reusable household items once we collect them?
Once you have collected reusable items in good condition, make sure they are neatly packed in bags and boxes. Record the name and address of each donor along with a description of each donation in a notebook. Inform each donor that they will receive a receipt by mail for their donation.
How do we donate collections for the SSPCA thrift store?
Bring the boxed and bagged items to the Sacramento SPCA at 6201 Florin-Perkins Road. during our hours of operation. Turn in the information from your notebook to the Program Coordinator at 383-7387, extension 9147.
Thank you! Your efforts will make a big difference in the lives of many cats, dogs, and many other pets!
