Youth Community Service and Group Projects >> Group Projects

Be sure to check the shelter's open hours before you bring your items to the shelter. We don't recommend that you leave them unattended after hours. And, thank you for helping our shelter guests!

Here are some project idea suggestions:

  1. Newspaper Drive
Newspapers help the animals stay clean and comfortable during their stay with us. They are placed in the bottom of cages housing cats and puppies.
  2. Used Book Drive
The used books are collected and donated to the SSPCA for their used book sales.
  3. Used Towel, Blanket and Toy Drive
The used towels help bathe shelter animals in need of grooming and the blankets offer warmth and comfort for our dog guests. The new and used animal toys help entertain animals in cages to prevent boredom.
  4. Thrift Store Item Drive
The SSPCA Thrift Store is always in need of reusable items in good working condition.
  5. Pet Treat Drive
Treats help us train and reward shelter pets. Most people combine this with a pet toy drive.
  6. Other Valuable Projects
In addition to the above opportunities, there are many other things you can do to raise money to help us care for the animals, for example:
    • Collect cans and bottles and donate funds
    • Hold a garage sale in your neighborhood and donate proceeds
    • Hold a car wash and donate proceeds
