Group Project 5: Pet Treat Drive
Youth Community Service and Group Projects >> Group Projects >> Project 5: Pet Treat Drive
What is a pet treats drive?
The pet treats collected will help offset the cost of caring for shelter pets and other animals in need in the Sacramento community.
How do we use donated pet treats?
Not only do we use donated treats to enrich sheltered animals daily lives. Pet treats are also used to train and reward shelter animals for good behavior while in our care.
Sounds like a great idea! How do we get started?
Create posters asking people to donate pet treats. The posters can be put up in your school, in community groups or clubs you may belong to, and throughout your neighborhood.
*You will need to decide how the donated treats will be collected and include that information on your posters.
Supplies you will need:
- Poster-sized paper
- Colorful pens and crayons
- Tape/thumbnails
- Boxes to pack canned treats
- A list of acceptable treats
- A note book to record the names and addresses of the people donating items
What do we do with the donated treats once we collect it?
Once you have collected the pet treats, make sure they are neatly packed in small to medium sized boxes. Medium and small boxes are a perfect size. Record the name, address of each donor along with a description of each donation in a note book. Inform each book donor that they will receive a receipt by mail for their donation.
How do we donate the pet treats?
Bring the boxed items to the Sacramento SPCA at 6201 Florin-Perkins Rd. during our hours of operation. Turn in the information from your note book to Dee Dee Drake, 383-7387, extension. 9149.
Thank you! Your efforts will make a big difference in the lives of many cats, dogs, and many other pets!
