Canine Behavior Evaluation Codes

"A" - Children of any age

These dogs are very social with people (adore children, not just tolerate them). "A" dogs get along with most other dogs, do well with most cats, are easy to handle and manage, are sensitive to verbal cues or corrections, are very trainable, have a soft and friendly expression, and can be silly, confident, subordinate, playful or calm, but are never timid or nervous.

"B" - Children ages 10 and older

These dogs have one or more of the following characteristics: moderately sociable with people, a higher energy level, jump some on people, mouthy (softer), timid, have a lower tolerance to hugs or other physical handling, are somewhat sensitive to verbal cues or corrections, hang onto possessions, eat faster or are competitive with food, are small (fragile) or large (strong), have minor health issues, are of an age needing a calm/quiet home environment, may or may not do well with cats or dogs, and/or are not comfortable with sudden movements or noises. "B" dogs display low to moderate degrees of one or more of these behaviors.

"C" - Children ages 16 and older

These dogs have one or more of the following characteristics: are very energetic and require frequent exercise, are very timid, have low tolerance to hugs or other physical handling, are guarded with food or possessions, are mouthy (harder), do excessive or rough jumping, are very strong, demonstrate pushy/bossy behavior toward people, are difficult to get to focus, are seldom sensitive to verbal cues or corrections, may be less social with people, have special medical needs, have an extremely high drive and/or need for training, show predatory behavior, and may not be suited for a home with cats or dogs. These dogs need an experienced owner for one or more of the reasons listed above. "C" dogs display high to very high degrees of one more of these behaviors.
